Camel Pushkar Fair

Help in Suffering was founded by an Englishwoman Crystal Rogers (Mishy to her friends), when, on a stop-over on her way to New Zealand, she saw a lame horse being eaten by crows in the street.

She first founded Animal Friend shelter in Delhi and then moved to Jaipur and founded Help in Suffering in l980. Her early helpers in Jaipur were Mr. G.K. Tiwari and Dr. T. Ramchandani, who all remain involved to this day.

The first shelter was located on land provided by H.H. the Rajmata of Jaipur, but after Mrs. Janine Vogler, President of Animaux Secours, France, met Mishy and visited Help in Suffering in l985, Animaux Secours raised the money to enable Mishy to build a new shelter on a piece of abandoned land at Durgapura. At that time the shelter was surrounded by bare fields. Trees were planted and gardens developed.
